core tip: the fourth industrial revolution is redefining the way products are produced, distributed and consumed. This set of desert irrigation technology used the vegetation restoration engineering method in the habitat of rare birds in Western Abu Dhabi, UAE in 2012, It will also reshape human daily life in the future. 3D printing technology has become an irresistible trend. Due to its deep integration with information network technology, it has brought revolutionary impact to the traditional manufacturing industry. Lithium cobalt oxide is one of the core materials of lithium-ion battery cathode, and has become the focus of countries around the world to cultivate future industries

[China Packaging News] the fourth industrial revolution is redefining the way products are produced, distributed and consumed, and will reshape the future daily life of mankind. 3D printing technology has become an irresistible trend. Because of its deep integration with information technology, it has brought a revolutionary impact on the traditional manufacturing industry, and has become the focus of countries around the world to cultivate future industries. International industrial giants Siemens, Ge, ThyssenKrupp and other enterprises are accelerating their layout in order to seize the commanding heights of new manufacturing technologies in the future

3d printing also has an official name, which is called additive manufacturing. In recent years, additive manufacturing technology has been widely used in aerospace, automobile, medical treatment, cultural creativity, innovation education and many other fields. More and more enterprises take it as the direction of technological transformation to break through R & D bottlenecks or solve design problems, and help new manufacturing modes such as intelligent manufacturing and green manufacturing

according to IDC, the global 3D printing market will expand at a compound annual growth rate of 22.3% in the next five years, reaching US $28.9 billion in 2020. HP predicts that the global 3D printing market will be close to US $6billion this year

according to the data sorted out in the "analysis report on market demand and investment prospects of China's 3D printing industry" by the forward looking Industry Research Institute, the scale of China's 3D printing industry will reach 17.3 billion yuan in 2017, and the first integrated circuit made of graphene wafers successfully developed by IBM of the United States. By 2020, the annual production scale is expected to exceed 50billion yuan, with considerable prospects. But like all new technologies, 3D printing also has many defects and bottlenecks, which will hinder the development of 3D printing. So, what are the problems of 3D printing

1. The development of special materials lags behind. China's development in the field of new materials for additive manufacturing is still lagging behind, facing the current situation of large limitations in material selection, few varieties, few suppliers, and heavy dependence on imports of high-performance materials

2. The degree of industrial scale is low. Although China's additive manufacturing industry has made great progress, it is "small, scattered and weak" on the whole

3. The industry standard system is not perfect. Although China has proposed seven national standards in the field of additive manufacturing, a complete additive manufacturing standard system covering design, materials, process equipment, product performance, certification and testing has not been established

4. Key equipment and core components depend on imports. China's industrial additive manufacturing equipment still lags far behind developed countries in terms of environmental temperature control, process stability and so on. The problem of heavy dependence on imports of key equipment and core components is still prominent

5. Application and promotion need to be strengthened. At present, China's understanding of additive manufacturing technology is still insufficient, and the innovation and application ability is not strong enough. In addition, the high cost and maintenance cost of industrial additive manufacturing equipment deter small and medium-sized enterprises

at present, although the prospect is attractive, there are still many problems at this stage in order to popularize 3D printing technology on a large scale. Capital and technology are the two major obstacles. We expect 3D printing to grow rapidly in the near future
